Bad Warranty Service - Polaroid Digital Camera Critique

By Justin Edwards

The iAuto mode rarely turned out a picture in focus and I had to take multiple of the same shot to get one decent one. Although I believe something was internally wrong with my camera, I was NEVER able to get an in focus picture when zooming more than half way in (using either digital or optical zoom).

I bought a Cannon s95. It tends to drain quickly unless you compromise quality. When we visited a water park, on one of the slides, it flew out of my pocket.

In that respect, it worked very well. The thing that I hated the most was how slow it was. so I just got this one and Olympus came a long way with their products because the 6020 is definitely the only camera I'm going to be using from now on, I have been through two point-and-click cameras in the last few years, this one is by far the best. It is smaller and lighter, and I like doesn't have the telescoping lens sticking out the front.

The camera is working, but apparently initializing provides the camera with valuable software? Or provides the computer with the software?

Right off the bat, the front fascia (blue in my case) was easily dented by the charging cord bumping against it (which later cost me a restocking fee when I returned it because it was "damaged"). I thought it was supposed to be tough! The first tech support person told me I do not need to initialize the camera, and that when connected with my mac it will automatically download photos to iPhoto. The camera should present a menu on the LCD screen, with one of the options being "Storage." After less than one year it all of a sudden broke when I was using it in the pool. Some seal must have "popped" and the camera was filled with water (yes battery hatch lock was on). We used it on our trip to Puerto Rico and it was great. The underwater shots and video were great. Best Buy retails this same model for $299, but this was on 'sale' for $223, so it was more than I expected and $80 cheaper. If the purpose of purchasing this camera is to use it for its rugged features then the camera is great! The video goes in and out of focus even in good daylight and keeping a constant distance from the objects being captured. As for the UI, it leaves much to be desired. So, two days before my trip I returned this camera and bought a Sony TX5. The waterproof housing for the Olympus 6020 that makes it waterproof up to 120ft (for scuba) costs $339.00 while the waterproof housing for the Sony TX5, making it waterproof up to 120ft is $149.00 - and I got 15% off by buying the camera itself. Sincerely, I love it...got it and the next day took it white water rafting, it was dropped, hit, smashed, dunked...and nothing stopped it from working, taking great pictures and videos and still looking brand new. My friends went out to get one of their own!
